Catalog 2023-2024

Education Abroad and Coursework Taken Outside of UT

As the home school, UT is responsible for administering your financial aid and reporting enrollment. To use federal or State student financial aid funding while seeking credit at any institution outside of UT (whether studying abroad or taking courses at a school close to home during breaks), students must have their coursework approved in advance by the appropriate departments at UT using the Transient Credit Request form. The Transient Credit Request form is available from the Academic Advising Office.

Having the transient coursework pre-approved ensures the coursework is applicable towards your UT degree and is necessary for your financial aid counselor to determine your aid eligibility. Refer to the Transfer Credit Evaluation section in this Catalog for more information. Students must submit the completed Transient Agreement to their financial aid counselor. The financial aid counselor will use this form to initiate a Consortium Agreement with the abroad program (or transient school) for the administration of aid.

UT scholarships may be used only in conjunction with a University-approved tuition exchange or direct enrollment program. Students may not apply University scholarships to external programs. Institutional scholarships and grants are reinstated for students who study abroad for a period of one year or less and return to UT in the semester immediately following the education abroad program.
