Institutional Aid Programs

Renewal eligibility for institutional aid programs is checked once annually, at the end of each spring semester.

Institutional merit scholarships are renewed to students who meet the minimum requirements of federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (described above), and enroll full-time in an undergraduate degree-seeking program of study. Institutional merit scholarships are defined as: 

  • UT Achievement Award
  • UT Dean's Merit Scholarship
  • UT International Baccalaureate Scholarship
  • UT International Freshman Merit Scholarship
  • UT International Transfer Merit Scholarship
  • UT Minaret Merit Scholarship
  • UT Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship
  • UT Presidential Merit Scholarship
  • UT Prestige Scholarship
  • UT Spartan Merit Scholarship
  • UT Transfer Merit Scholarship

 

Departmental scholarships require a minimum cumulative GPA and continued major the specified area of study, as follows: 

  • UT Art Departmental Scholarship 2.8 and major in a program of study offered by the Art Department
  • UT English and Writing Departmental Scholarship 2.8 and major in a program of study offered by the English and Writing Department
  • UT Film, Animation and New Media Departmental Scholarship 2.8 and major in a program of study offered by the Film, Animation and New Media Department
  • UT Life Science Scholarship 2.8 and major in a program of study offered by the either the Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics Departments
  • UT Music Departmental Scholarship 2.8 and major in a program of study offered by the Music Department
  • UT Musical Theatre, Theatre and Dance Departmental Scholarship 2.8 and major in a program of study offered by the Theatre and Dance Department
  • Nursing scholarships (see Nursing Department)

 

Requirements for endowed and annual scholarships are established by the donor(s) and renewed on a funds-available basis: 

  • UT Alumni Association Specialty Tag Fund 3.0
  • UT Alumni Endowed Scholarship 3.0
  • UT Excelsior Annual Scholarship not renewable
  • UT Gregory Foundation Endowed Scholarship 3.0
  • UT Liberian Student Scholarship 3.0
  • UT Tampa Bay Chapter Alumni Endowed Scholarship 3.0

The UT Excelsior Annual Scholarship and UT Riseman Endowed Scholarship for Entrepreneurship are not renewable; students may reapply for the Riseman scholarship in subsequent years.

 

The following leadership programs offer scholarships to students who are actively participating in tehse programs and maintain minimum cumulative GPA's, as specified below: 

  • UT Bonner Leader's Scholarship 3.0
  • UT President's Leadership Fellows Scholarship 3.0

 

UT scholarships not listed above require students maintain satisfactory academic progress as described for federal aid programs (above) and enroll full-time in a degree-seeking undergraduate program of study. 

An undergraduate student is eligible to receive institutional financial aid for a maximum of nine semesters. Undergraduate students who transfer to UT are eligible to receive UT aid up to the point of normal degree completion. Normal degree completion for most undergraduates is 124 credits.
