DMS - Doctor of Medical Science

This course introduces learners to scholarly research in evidence-based medicine, including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches. Learners will compare PICO, PDSA, and PCC frameworks and apply them to formulate a focused scholarly project question and preliminary project plan. The course also addresses foundational elements for successful publication, including ethical consideration, literature synthesis, and alignment of project aims with target peer-reviewed journals.

This course advances learners proposed scholarly projects from design to implementation. Students will refine their research questions and methodology, secure necessary approvals (as applicable), conduct the project, and systematically collect and manage data in preparation for analysis. Emphasis is placed on selecting appropriate analytic strategies (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods), documenting procedures to ensure rigor, and preparing preliminary summaries or results.

This course focuses on completion, interpretation, and dissemination of the scholarly project. Students will analyze and interpret their findings, explain the significance and limitations of their results for advanced clinical practice, and identify implications for future inquiry or quality improvement. Learners will prepare a manuscript suitable for submission to a peer-reviewed journal and deliver a formal scholarly presentation of their completed project to faculty and peers.

The course will address social and behavioral determinants of health and its effects on quality and patient safety, epidemiology of clinical disease, disaster situations, population health issues, as well as diversity, equity, health advocacy and promotion on global and focal spectrum. The course will further explore barriers and their solutions in interprofessional and patient communication in medicine.

The course will address ethical and legal considerations in healthcare, healthcare policy development as well as PA role in today’s healthcare. The course will cover the healthcare system in the US as well as globally.

This course examines the design, implementation, and evaluation of curricula in health professions education using adult learning theory and evidence-based instructional strategies. Learners analyze competency-based education models, curricular frameworks, assessment methods, and educational technologies to develop aligned, learner-centered curricula. Emphasis is placed on outcome mapping, instructional design, program evaluation, and accreditation-driven curriculum planning.

This course will review various competency based educational approaches to include effective student assessment and feedback strategy. The course will explore the incorporation of educational simulation and technology in health professions instruction.

This course focuses on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health professions education programs. Learners examine accreditation systems, regulatory standards, and quality assurance processes while integrating simulation-based education across standardized patients, task trainers, and advanced simulation technologies. Emphasis is placed on program evaluation, compliance monitoring, and accreditation readiness.

This course equips aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of the healthcare industry. Students will explore the foundations of entrepreneurship, financial acumen, business model development, and innovation in healthcare. Emphasis is placed on legal and regulatory considerations, strategic planning, market analysis, and marketing strategies tailored to healthcare startups. Through practical applications, including financial forecasting, value proposition design, and strategic goal setting, participants will develop a comprehensive plan to launch and sustain innovative healthcare ventures, addressing market gaps and creating value in a competitive landscape.

This course will direct learners to break down healthcare organization’s structure, legal framework, and focus on concepts to increase problem solving, communication, and improve management practices. The course will also examine and focus on developing appropriate managing styles. This course will further address financial and human resource management, as well as managing conflict, change implementation, and team development to not only improve communication between individual employees and corporate representative, but to improve health outcomes through efficiency in clinical setting.

This course will discuss basic topics in economics and progress into a deep dive of healthcare economics and evolve knowledge in topics covering healthcare payment systems and insurance markets, financial management, reimbursements, and payment negotiation.
