ENG 205 Advanced English Grammar
This course focuses on how the English language works: Its structure, its use, its history, its regional and social varieties, and its current status as a global language. Readings and course work make explicit the “internalized system of rules” that enables us to speak, listen, read, and write. Students will review the conventions governing Standard American English (SAE) and Standard Written English (SWE), as well as varieties like African American English (AAE) and world Englishes (WE). By identifying language users’ grammatical choices and understanding them more fully, students will gain confidence and efficacy in their own communications
