GEO 205 Global Energy and Resource Transitions
This course explores energy and resource transitions, preparing students to holistically understand the dynamics of resource use, society, and politics. The course examines how new technologies have driven global appetites for resources that can power our societies, including flowing water, plants, animals, and mineral deposits. These appetites change over time and across space. Energy transitions, past and present, disrupt environments, societies, and political systems. The course uses case studies to examine past energy system disruptions and then examines the possibilities of the on-going transition to green energies and its effects on markets, social movements, and policy.
