This course examines how historians use the raw material of the past to interpret the “who, what, when, where, why” of historical events and processes. Students will explore a variety of cases where historians have significant disagreement or diverse interpretations regarding “what happened” and “why,” in order to come to an understanding of what historians do and how they do it.
