SPE 212 Global Speech and Civic Impact
This course explores the impact of public speaking in shaping historical and contemporary movements related to civic engagement and global change. This course explores the power of spoken word as a force for global change. Students will examine landmark speeches that have advanced human rights and shaped political movements across diverse cultures and historical periods. Through the study of cultural context, rhetorical strategies, and elements of persuasion, students will develop skills to analyze, write, and deliver speeches that engage global audiences. Students will analyze texts by human rights activists and political leaders through writing assignments, discussions, analysis, and research.
