LAN - Language

An introduction to the language and culture of the different ethnic groups in the United States. Content and emphasis vary. Graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis only.  May be repeated when content varies.

Designed to give students the ability to communicate on a basic level in a given language. Materials facilitate the practice of speaking and listening skills, emphasizing the situations one would encounter while traveling. Includes information about cross-cultural communication. Includes the psychology, socioeconomics and philosophies of education of the deaf in the United States, as well as an explanation of the field of interpreting and historical notes on sign languages worldwide.
