PHL 491 Philosophy Teaching Internship

In this internship course, a student will work for 80 hours as a teaching intern for a 200-level philosophy course taught by full-time Philosophy and Religion faculty. They will work closely with supervising faculty to develop and deliver micro-teaching sessions, lead workshops, hold philosophy essay writing clinics, or similar tasks (though interns will not assist with grading). This will require attending most of the class meetings for the course with which they'll assist. In addition to their 80 internship hours, students will submit a reflection paper at the end of the semester.

Prerequisite

Philosophy major with junior or senior standing and a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and minimum 3.5 GPA in major. The Internship Request Form (IRF) must be completed by host site and approved by faculty Internship Coordinator. Applications for Spring internships are due by Oct 15 the fall term prior, and applications for Fall internships are due March 15 the spring term prior. Successful applicants must then register for PHL 491 during the normal registration period for continuing students, and not register for any class that conflicts with the one which the student is approved to assist.
