SOC 303 Introduction to Social Work

This course provides an introduction to the field of social work and human services. Each student will develop an appreciation for the history of social work in the U.S. and the social conditions and advocacy efforts that helped develop the profession. Emphasis is placed on the theoretical grounding of strategic interventions aimed at improving life trajectories of individuals, families, social groups and human service organizations. Students will be challenged to reflect on their own values as a critical part of personal growth and professional development in the field of social work.
