UTGEO 201 Human Geography: Society, Environment, and Politics
How are our identities, cultures, and social relationships shaped by the world around us? How, in turn, do we shape our natural and built environments? This course provides an overview of human geography, including cultural, political, environmental, and urban topics. The course draws examples from around the world to illuminate how geographies at a range of scales are made from the intimate places of our homes to neighborhoods, nations, and more. As we examine questions of spatial imagination, power, and meaning we will also engage in hands-on activities that reinforce social science concepts and methodologies.
