NUR 218 Health Assessment and Promotion
This course introduces the foundational knowledge and skills required for comprehensive health assessment across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the development of systematic assessment techniques, including health history taking, physical examination, risk appraisal, and documentation. Students will learn to identify normal findings, recognize deviations, and apply critical thinking in interpreting assessment data. The course also explores strategies for health promotion and disease prevention, highlighting the nurse’s role in fostering wellness, patient education, and culturally responsive care. Laboratory experiences provide opportunities to practice and refine assessment skills in simulated and real-world settings.
