Master of Physician Assistant Medicine

Master of Physician Assistant Medicine

The University of Tampa offers the Master of Physician Assistant Medicine (MPAM) degree. The program is a full-time, cohort-based course of study completed over seven semesters (27 months) and is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level clinical practice as physician assistants. The curriculum includes a didactic phase followed by supervised clinical practice experiences. Accreditation

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the University of Tampa Physician Assistant Medicine Program sponsored by The University of Tampa. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. Mission

The mission of the University of Tampa Physician Assistant Medicine Program is to engage in collaborative training to develop competent medical providers from various backgrounds who provide high-quality care to their communities.

Admission

Admission to the Master of Physician Assistant Medicine program is competitive and selective. Applicants must meet all published minimum eligibility requirements and complete the program’s required application materials and assessments by the published deadline. Prerequisite Coursework

Applicants must complete required prerequisite coursework from regionally accredited institutions and meet the program’s minimum grade and GPA requirements. Technical Standards

Program Requirements and Progression

The MPAM program is a full-time, lock-step curriculum in which students progress through the program as a cohort. Satisfactory completion of the program requires successful completion of all required coursework, supervised clinical practice experiences, and summative requirements, as well as compliance with University graduation requirements and program professionalism standards. Students must maintain the academic and professional standards established by the program. Course of Study

The Master of Physician Assistant Medicine curriculum consists of didactic and clinical phases completed over seven semesters. Clinical rotations may be taken in any order.  

Clinical rotations are completed at healthcare institutions with educational affiliation agreements in place with the UTampa PAM program. All institutions are in the Midwest Florida area. Orientation to the clinical phase of training will be provided before rotations begin. The clinical director will determine rotation assignments. Students may not solicit or select their clinical rotation sites. Students may request specific elective experiences but are not guaranteed those sites.
