PAM 670 Medical Diagnostics I

Medical Diagnostics I develops a functional understanding of selecting, ordering, interpreting, and applying diagnostic tests used in primary care medical decision-making. Content aligns with the concurrent Clinical Medicine I system-based block and emphasizes appropriate utilization, cost-conscious care, avoidance of low-value testing, and clear documentation of diagnostic rationale and interpretation. Topics include foundational clinical laboratory medicine, introductory diagnostic imaging principles, electrocardiography fundamentals, and system-aligned diagnostic approaches for dermatologic, musculoskeletal, infectious, hematologic/oncologic, pulmonary, and HEENT presentations. Instruction includes lecture, case-based learning, and occasional demonstrations. Enrollment restricted to UTampa PAM students.
