PAM 627 Interpreting the Medical Literature and Evidence-Based Medicine

Interpreting the Medical Literature and Evidence-Based Medicine prepares physician assistant students to locate, interpret, and apply clinical research to patient care decisions. Students develop skills in formulating foreground questions using PICO(T), searching the medical literature, understanding study designs and sampling, interpreting key biostatistical measures, and critically appraising evidence for diagnosis and screening, therapy, harm, and prognosis. Learning is assessed through examinations, team-based quizzes, structured appraisal worksheets using assigned articles, and an individual capstone evidence application activity.
